Our Mission Statement

We developed the Certificates of Harmonious Development because we feel that visual affirmations that acknowledge inner strength and character facilitate the learning process. The positive symbols and encomiums in each certificate resonate on many levels of human experience and  bolsters self awareness, confidence and happiness, the end goal of our work - Harmonious Development.

Our mission is to nurture the unique nature of kids. We believe that recognizing accomplishments, virtues, and traits in an authentically meritorious manner, influences positive development. We nurture "Eureka" experiences—ones that cultivate the connections between hopes, dreams and the day-to-day world.

Along with the acquisition of other skills and ability, we believe that harmonious development positively impacts the day to day life of recipients and in the end, advances the human condition.

ABOUT THE HEADMASTER

The Patagucci Institute for the Advancement of Humankind has a core mission to recognize a student’s interior life and by doing so, help  them integrate their present circumstances with their hopes and dreams. The initial idea for the certificates grew out of my professional practice as an educational therapist. Originally, the certificate was simply conceived as a clever way to acknowledge effort outside of the academic arena. After all, it takes effort to work with therapists/coaches/teachers and its something we often over look as we gaze onto the holy grail of a high GPA.  As a therapist whose worked with  hundreds of students - from 7th graders to Step 1 Doctors - I realized that one way to help people was by a precise acknowledgement of their effort and inner strength.

In parenting, teaching, therapy, coaching or any other human performance endeavor, we are always dealing with the gap between  effort and outcomes. It’s here where virtues emerge and develop. It’s here where everyone listens and assists. It’s within the frame of the 1:1 where struggle is dissected and re-imagined, so that its productive and positive. Every struggle is the proverbial sand in the oyster, polishing the great pearl of human life.

Terry Regan -the Headmaster of the Patagucci Institute for the Harmonious Advancement of Humankind - is a skilled and patient educational therapist with a focus on ADHD and executive functioning issues. His expertise is working directly with students to facilitate their learning, unlock their potential and enhance their brilliance.

CHART OF VIRTUES

The  Value of Harmonious Development

Our library organizes forty eight virtues along an positive executive function model. You can use the words to acknowledge growth and affirm change in your child, a co-worker or a student. Harmonious Development is the idea that effort produces change in individuals. Outcomes do matter, yet they are not the complete picture. Certificates of Harmonious Development recognize the internal outcome of effort. They signify that you recognize something of great value in the recipient. To students who struggle, or coworkers who strive or students who study hard, words matter. As people seek to master tasks at hand, there is something of great value - greater than accomplishing a goal. What matters is that others understand the nature of their effort, the unseen aspects of self actualization and efficacy. The purpose of Certificates of Harmonious Development are to acknowledge the recipients for this inner accomplishment.
